Free of Plastics (FoP): An Analysis of the Consumer Acceptance in Universiti Tenaga Nasional

This paper presents the statistical analysis of the acceptance and awareness on the Free of Plastics (FoP) campaign implemented in Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and Kajang. Generally, FoP campaign is introduced by some state governments in Malaysia especially in Selangor in order to reduce plastics usage by conducting FoP day in all hypermarkets, supermarkets and small retail shops. Universiti Tenaga Nasional which is located in Bangi, Selangor took the opportunity to play an important role to educate and create awareness among its students. Therefore, UNITEN has taken an initiative by conducting the similar FoP campaign every day in all food courts. The study is conducted through a social survey by distributing a set of questionnaire in UNITEN and Kajang. The questionnaire consists of 22 questions which covers demographic information of the respondents and their feedbacks on FoP campaign. Other tools used are passive observations through time interval sampling method and analysis of survey questionnaire data using SPSS Version 15.1. The Results from survey and observations show that the acceptance of FoP campaign among UNITEN respondents are satisfactory while in Kajang many respondents are still clueless about the objective of FoP campaign.
