Transitions from High School to College: Level of Mental Health among Students in Kolej Profesional MARA Seri Iskandar, Perak
This research explores the level of mental health of Kolej Profesional Mara Seri Iskandar (KPMSI), Perak, Malaysia students. The transitions from high school to college or universities given these young adults a challenging phase in order to cope with the new environment, to be far from their family and to compete among students in achieving excellent results. Moreover, some are not ready to have handled their own responsibilities and to be independent. In this study, a survey has been distributed to first semester students in KPMSI. The survey has adapted Mental Health Inventory (MHI) by Veit and Ware (1983). The results show 40.22% of respondents are facing a poor mental health. This result should alarm the management on how to manage the transition students to manage their stress as it is lead to student’s mental health.
